My Blazer Collection

When I thought about the kind of fashion piece I wanted to go up on my blog first, I had no doubt that it would be about my blazers.

Not just because blazers are the best thing in fashion (I will die on this hill), but because I have that many of them and they were bound to turn up in all my pictures.

If you know me at all, you’d expect me to turn up in one of these bad boys. In the immortal words of one of my close friends, “I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to spot you, then I remembered I just need to look for the blazer.”

I own 12 blazers. Is that too many blazers? Will I stop buying blazers? Do I regret owning that many blazers? No, not at all.

What I didn’t realise is just how diverse they can be. This blog will look at some of my favourites, with notes on how I style them, where I’d wear them, and the little details that really stand out.

1. The Everyday Blazer

Can you guess why I call this jacket my ‘everyday’?

The best thing about this jacket is that it seems to go with everything.

In 2021, it’s been one of my staple pieces. It’s perfect with my mom jeans and turtlenecks, but it looks amazing layered over a floral dress and a cream silk shirt for work too.

This jacket is easily the most comfortable piece I own. The slightly slouched look makes it just comfortable enough without looking too slouched and the lack of pressed lapels make it such an easy piece to wear.

I’m also a huge fan of plain buttons. Don’t get me wrong, a statement button can look phenomenal, but I like my pieces to compliment my whole outfit - which this one certainly does.

If you could only choose one blazer to own, you should opt for something versatile in a neutral colour or modest shape to match almost anything in your wardrobe.

2. The Statement Blazer

Next up, is a blazer I have such a love-hate relationship with. The Zara jacket is the most structured jacket I have.

When you compare it to the Everyday, it’s like wearing something dipped in starch.

That said, this jacket looks insane when you find the right outfit for it.

For this shot, I wanted to pair the starch with starch, so I chose my oversized white shirt and really popped the collar.

It turned out a little seventies style, which I’m not too mad about.

I’m so excited to get out-and-about in London with this blazer as spring hits.

It’s a gorgeous colour that I hope makes a return. The slightly rosy pink is such a flattering colour and I’ve not seen. single friend try it on and it not suit.

Who said statement couldn’t mean everyday?

3. The Work Blazer

This is easily the oldest blazer in my collection (insert old photo from my early blogging days).

AND would you believe it if I said it was from Primark?

This blazer sadly doesn’t get enough love from me, but it’s incredibly comfortable and can turn any work outfit up a notch.

Similar to the last outfit: a cream silk shirt is all that’s needed to let the blazer do the talking. Swapping jeans for cigarette trousers and boots for loafers, you’re ready for a long day in the office.

I usually find pattered pieces harder to match, but I’ve found sticking to neutral, block colours is the best way for this blazer.

Keep it simple and let the blazer do the work.

4. The Bold Blazer

I have so much love for this Topshop blazer, it’s actually unreal.

This is also the first blazer I paid full price for, at a whopping £60. It honestly could have gone either way: it’s bargain and I wear it all the time, or it tuck it into my suitcase and forget about it for years. Thankfully it was the former.

Honestly, I think I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth.

I really thought the bold colour would be more difficult to match, thinking I’d have to stick with simple blacks and whites, and maybe blue jeans on the odd occasion. Instead, it’s proved to be an easy blazer to wear.

I wanted to compliment the boldness of this jacket with a slightly dressier, statement outfit.

Keeping with my usual turtleneck, I swapped by blue jeans for a spotted maxi skirt, and stiletto boots.

It’s a perfect look if you have a date night (not too far from a tube stop, because lockdown has nuked my ability to walk in heels).

The flattering shake for this blazer makes it perfectly feminine, while the padded shoulders are subtle enough to give you that hourglass shape without making you look like a linebacker.

5. The Difficult Blazer

As much as I love this blazer, it’s a damn pain in my arse.

Annoyingly, this linen jacket is everything I wanted. It’s colourful, perfect for spring/summer, and so comfortable. BUT, it’s the same damn colour as my usual jeans…

Pairing this outfit was hard. It’s a little too casual for full work attire, and with jeans out of the question, I am desperately waiting for spring to come around.

Ideally, I’d pair it with a white maxi sundress and some mules, but today I opted for all black and statement white trainers.

There is no point fighting against the nature of your blaze, so it wants to be casual, then casual it shall be!

6. The Perfect Blazer

I have saved my absolute favourite for last.

This one is my most recent purchase from Zara.

You may ask, did I need to spend £60 on another blazer, taking my total blazer count to 12? To that, I say have you seen the colour of it?!

Dark, forest green is my favourite colour. I say that about a lot of colours, but any dark green clothing is my kryptonite.

And when I was shopping with my friend in Leeds before I moved, and she said I simply must own it, then own it I will.

I wanted to pair this blazer with my favourite dress from NastyGal, which I, unfortunately, had to butcher since the sleeves came with an obscene amount of tulle.

The black buttons on the piece make it a perfect autumn winter blazer, matching pretty much everything I own.

It’s incredibly tailored and super flattering. I don’t think I’ll ever find a more perfect blazer.

There you have it! That’s half of my blazer collection. Maybe I’ll do a second round-up of the ones that just missed out this time.

Otherwise, if your gut is telling you to buy a blazer, let me be the voice of reason and say “hell yeah you should!”
